Named for the visiting Dutch astronomer who actually built it.
Used for decades as a guest house for visiting astronomers and as a weekend retreat for observatory staff.
Originally just a livingroom, one bedroom, and a kitchen, it had no shower or bath.
Heating was by woodburning stove.
Acquired by the CHARA project in 1995 to be renovated and used again as living quarters.
