Medicine Bow Wind Farm is located about 5 miles (8 km) SSW of the town of Medicine Bow, Wyoming. It consists of 9 wind turbines. These were originally: 2 Vestas V42/600 (power 600 kW, diameter 42 m, hub height: 40 m) constructed in 1998 and 7 Vestas V47/660 (power 660 kW, diameter 47 m, hub height: 50 m) (5 constructed in 1999 and 2 in 2000) with a combined nominal capacity of 5.82 MW. In the fall of 2014 all turbine generators were refurbished by Gamesa to be 710kW generators, which means that the farm is now rated at 6.39 MW.

This is also the site of a number of previous wind turbines ( www.medicinebowwind.com/Site-History.html ), including the WTS-4, the most powerful wind turbine to have operated in the US ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASA_wind_turbines#WTS-4 ) and a Clipper Liberty C93 (
