Established in 1888 as Latrobe Steel Co. Purchased by Railway Steel Spring in 1905. The site was then sold to American Locomotive Co. in 1926. Later on, it became Latrobe Forge & Spring Co. before being sold to the Standard Steel division of Titanium Metal Corp. in 1976. In 2004, the plant was sold to Lehigh Specialty Melting, which continues to operate on part of the plant.
