Roughly in this area on May 12, 1916, about 3,000 acres of land burned due to a fire caused by sparks at a sawmill near the Case house (for which the Case St. is named). The fire was centralized around Washington Hill but went North to LeGeyt Rd.. Estimates from 1916 suggested the fire did $50,000 dollars in damage which equates to just less than $1,000,000 today.
