Westminster is an area of London and is the location of the Houses of Parliament - the headquarters of the British Government, along with numerous government offices. The larger City of Westminster is one of the 32 London boroughs and has city status, covering much of central London. Its name means 'West Monastry Church' - which is the Abbey itself, another famous landmark.
Westminster is also quite residential - surprisingly enough, it isn't as expensive as surrounding areas such as Knightsbridge, Pimlico and Chelsea. The name is often used to mean the British government, and Westminster Village refers to the world of British politics.
