Islington (London)

United Kingdom / England / London
 district, draw only border

Islington is an area of London located just outside the city centre, and is at the centre of the London Borough of Islington, which covers Finsbury and Highbury. The modern day Islington spans from Highbury Corner and Upper Street to the Angel and Islington High Street, and both parts are often considered to be seperate places in their own right. It is served by two tube stations: Highbury and Islington (Victoria) and Angel (Northern).

Islington began as a village on the Great North Road, and grew to a fairly large size and was popular with rich people, and in the 19th century it was annexed by London. Since the 1960s wealthier famillies have moved in, making the area affluent and upmarket. It was at one time home to Tony Blair, and it is believed that here he made his agreement with Gordon Brown over who should be leader.
