Over time, the Gate Tower, or Tower Hall (64m high) was used for meetings of the council and the archive and treasure storage. The Gate Tower was named The Clock Tower after 1604, when it was installed a clock with wooden mechanism. In 1648, Sighisoara smiths reconstructed the clock mechanism of metal parts. Also, the clock was fitted with two groups of statues made ​​of wood, arranged in three registers. Two figures represent Justice and Righteousness. Another figure is a boiler maker, announcing the exact time. Then there is represented a "desperate man", figure that seems remember of foreigners that the city applies the death penalty. Also, after the fashion of the time, there are linden wood statues, 80 cm high, showing the pagan gods personifiyng the days of the week: Diana, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Sun. Since 1964, the watch was equipped with an electric motor.
The high roof is a Baroque jewel and was built in 1677.
