hillfort, scheduled ancient monument
This is a small circular hill fort dating from around 200 BC. It has banks of earth and V-shaped ditches made of turf and stone. Traces of huts have been recorded within the defended site including the 5th century timber lodges. It is speculated that Castle Dore was abandoned shortly after the Roman Invasion.
