Cornwall

United Kingdom / England / Roche /
county, peninsula, second-level administrative division, draw only border

Cornwall is the most southwestern county in the UK and sits on the tip of the southwestern peninsula with a population of 500,000. During the Anglo-Saxons invasion, many Celts escaped to Cornwall which was not settled by the Saxons, giving the county its own language (now dead, though there are revival attempts) and place names. The Normans soon took over Cornwall and it became a county.

Today, Cornwall is a popular holiday resort with many beaches and seaside towns. The County Town is the city of Truro with the largest settlement being the slightly larger St. Austell. Cornwall probably has one the most of amount its own culture of any English county thanks to its Celtic heritage.
