Knightsbridge is an upmarket major shopping area of London, identified as one of the two international centres (along with the West End) by the Greater London Plan. The area is home to the Knightsbridge Apartments and major stores such Harvey Nichols. It has its own tube station. Most of the developments here happened in the 19th century: before that it was little more than a hamlet on a road notorious for highwaymen.
