lutheranism, lutheran church/kirk
Lutherans appeared in Vilnius in the 16th century and faced conflicts from catholics. In 1555 german preacher Wyclif established a house of worship. During 1581–1583 the church was built. It was damaged by several fires in the 17-18th centuries. The belfry was built in 1738 and 1872. During soviet period the church turned into restorer workship, a basketball court was settled in the church building. After declaring independence the church was restored and returned to lutherans in 1995.
