The ensemple consists of St. Teresa church, monastery building, chapel of Dawn Gate, gallery, household building.
Discalced Carmelites appeared in Vilnius in 1624. The monastery till 1733 belonged to Polish Province of Discalded carmelites and was ruled from Cracow. Lithuanian Province, with its center in Vilnius, was established in 1734. The monastery was supported and funded by many famous local dukes and clergy. Vilnius Discalced Carmelites monastery with small St. Terese chapel began to operate from 1672. The monastery was closed in 1844 by russian authorities. Shortly, from 1935 till the Second World War the monastery came back to life.
