Black Church, a symbol of Brasov, is the parish church of the Evangelical Church CA in Romania. Received its current name after the 1689 fire that swept across the city has transformed it into a ruin. Originally dedicated to St. Mary had worn it. After the Reformation was known as "Big Church", but the popular name after the fire, "Black Church", was officially accepted in the nineteenth century.

Black Church is the largest build from; therefore sacred in Romania, the largest church-hall east of Vienna and one of the largest medieval churches of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna until the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.

Buchholz organ, built in the early Romantic period, is the largest mechanical organ in Romania. Draws its sound from the country each year organists and abroad, who want to concerts here. At the time of its construction, was among the largest organs in Europe.

Except Turkey, the Black Church has the largest collection of Oriental carpets in Europe, dating from the XV-XVI. The Black Church tower is the largest mobile bell in Romania, with a weight of approx. 6000 kg.

Inside, visitors can discover countless objects of art: critselniţa (1472), mural painting of St. Mary (1476), pews in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries breslelelor showing intense activity of Brasov, Gothic altar (1866) along with many other parts gold and personalities tombstones of Brasov. In the back of the church is always open two exhibitions that tell the history of the Black Church reformer Johannes Honterus life.

Until recently parament treasure of the place was largely overlooked until, in 2002, experts have found value. Including clothing items from the Middle Ages, he is no worse than the great collections of Danzig, Halberstadt, Brandenburg and Stralsund, but currently is not publicly available. In subsequent years the treasure will be restored but by specialists.
