USCG Station Apra Harbor is the US Coast Guard's main base of operations in the Western Pacific, and as such is the Headquarters for US Coast Guard Sector Guam which is responsible for Guam, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana's Islands, The Republic of Palau, and the Federated States of Micronesia (Kosrae, Pohnpei, Chuuk, and Yap). All people and assets of Sector Guam are part of the US Coast Guard's 14th District, based at Honolulu.

Utilizing the homeported Cutters USCGC Washington (WPB-1331), USCGC Assateague (WPB-1337), USCGC Sequoia (WLB-215) and several smal boat units, Sector Guam provides Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Ports Waterways and Coastal Security (PWCS), Marine Inspection, Mariner's Licensing and Documentation, Port Safety and Marine Environmental Protection to the area it monitors.
