  • Clearwater Mall was the second mall built in Pinellas County (The first being Sunshine Mall), and it totally dominated the area up until Countryside was built 6 or so miles to the north, and took all its traffic away. They tried to re-invent themselves as a 'classy' upscale mall, but that didn't go over very well. Ultimately, the property was sold, closed, and torn down in favor of this sprawling shopping plaza that doesn't really have as much variety as the mall did (I mean, there's not even a magic shop!), and the parking lot is badly organized. Several of the outparcel buildings in the northwest corner of this plaza are left over from the old days. There used to be an automotive garage, a small AMC movie theater, and an Apple Computer Store, back in the days when they still sold Apple ]I[ Computers. (Like early '80s)
