 SkyTrain (Vancouver), bridge

The Skybridge is a non-automotive bridge for Greater Vancouver's SkyTrain system spanning the Fraser River and connecting New Westminster with Surrey. It was constructed from 1987 to 1989 and opened in March 1990 with the second half of Phase II extension of the original SkyTrain line (now Expo Line). The bridge has two tracks in each direction, with a third track (not connected to the SkyTrain tracks) that is used by maintenance crews to truck equipment back and forth on the bridge. The Skybridge has two pylons with a height of 123 m (404 ft), a clearance of 45 m (148 ft) below the deck, a main span of 340 m (1,115 ft), and a total length of 616 m (2,021 ft). It is the longest rapid transit-only bridge on earth.
