The Malthouse is approximately 550 years old and is in fact a collection of old farm cottages that have in their time performed many functions from peasant housing to brewery, condemned, army barracks and gentlemans retreat. It is now a private residential property.

  • norman watson hillier , my father was born in the malthouse on december 2 1923.He returned there for a visit in 2008 and met up with his brothers and families once more.
  • Harry James Russell was b. In the Malt House in 1874, his father was William Russell mother was Mary ?. Harry moved to Canada about 1904, would be interesting to know if their may be any Russell's still residing in the area. My children are descendent of William Russell. Would love to visit the home some day.
