Novorossiysk (Black Sea Fleet) Naval Base - operational-tactical territorial association of the Navy, whose task is to support the forces of the North Caucasus Military District on the coastal area, protection of state borders of Russia, ensuring deployment of naval and military shipping.

The area of ​​responsibility extends from NVMB border with Ukraine on the Azov Sea to the borders of Georgia, on the Black Sea. The structure consists of NVMB antisubmarine, mine ships, search and rescue, hydrographic survey ships, logistics and repair parts, parts of coastal missile and artillery troops, naval infantry, engineer units.

New database has been created to build industrial zone in the middle of the city - on the left is an oil terminal "Transneft", to the right - the cargo port of Novorossiysk.
During the eight months of 2008, workers poured an artificial peninsula area of ​​more than 60 thousand square meters. Also, there followed three sections, the deep pile foundation of the breakwater, which in the future, is intended to completely close the base off from the waves.

As part of federal programs based on planned construction of piers for the berthing of ships, dry docks and piers for ship repair, construction of pipelines, railroads, power lines.
