Totland Parish

United Kingdom / England / Freshwater-Totland /
 village, draw only border

The village is centred around Totland Bay however extends north to Colwell Common and South to Middleton and Headon Warren (the Needles). The needles are three chalk-limestone stacks off the western tip. The name comes from the former fourth needle-shaped pillar called Lot's Wife that used to stand in its midst until it collapsed in a storm in 1764. The remaining rocks are all short and squat and not at all needle-like, but the name has stuck.
