A census-designated place with a population of 7,836 at the 2000 census. Named for the estate of former governor Benjamin Perry which was located in the area: Latin for "without care." Developed in the 1920's as a neighborhood of summer homes and estate for the local elite, now a combination of residential housing and old textile mill villages.
