The Statue of Roland - demolished

Also called the ''Pillory'' is documented in the Large Square in 1550.
The statue replaced an older one. It was rebuilt over the centuries, especially the arms and the sword.
It was demolished in 1783. Around the statue were held the executions (hanging, burning on the pyre, heading).
The statue is kept in the Brukenthal Palace Museum - Transylvanian Sculpture in stone XIIIth -XIXth centuries (ground floor)
