Simon Cooper House. in 1682 Simon Cooper the chirurgeon, acquired 400 acres on Cove Neck "by voat of the town". Cooper's Bluff at the north point of Cove Neck is named after him. Just to the west of the bluff Simon Cooper built "Grey Cottage" in 1690. Mary Cooper wrote her diary here between 1768 and 1773 describing rural life in Oyster Bay. John Abeel Weeks drew a picture of the house in 1830. This house was replaced by the current building sometime in the 19th century. Simon's grandson, Joseph, lived here with his wife Mary (Molly) starting around 1729.
