Estate home designed c. 1915 in the Italian Renaissance style by Charles I. Berg of the firm of Cady, Berg & See on originally 42 acres of land for John Chandler Moore {merchant, financier}. Moore served as president and chairman of the board of Tiffany & Company, president of Tiffany & Co. Safe Deposit Co., and director of Bank of Manhattan Co. John's father, Edward Moore, founded Tiffany & Company.

The estate was subsequently inherited by his son Lous de Bebian Moore {merchant} who continued to call it "Moorelands". Moore served as president of Tiffany & Co. The prominent front facade Ionic pillars and Corinthian portico had later been removed. Later owned by designer Oleg Cassini, and was occupied by his former wife until 2017. The estate's furnishings were sold at court-ordered auction by Doyle in 2019.
