"Redcote" (Oyster Bay Cove, New York)

Residence built c. 1880 built as a farmhouse for an unknown first occupant on originally 116 acres of land. It was purchased by Russell Cornell Leffingwell {financier, attorney}. Leffingwell served as a partner and chairman of the board of J.P. Morgan & Co. and a partner of Cravatt, Henderson & de Gersdorff. He also served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury from 1917-20 and was a trustee of Vassar College.

The main house, with additions in 1931, has a number of outbuildings that remain, including various barns, stables and sheds, and formal and walled gardens. The estate has numerous residences that were added for family members over the years, including additions to the caretakers cottage.

Following Leffingwell's tenure, it was inherited by his daughter Lucy and her husband Edward Pulling in the 1960's.
