Saskatoon’s first enclosed shopping mall was Market Mall, which opened in 1966. At the time, the StarPhoenix promoted the mall’s ability to “guarantee shoppers protection from Saskatchewan weather the year round as they wander from store to store.”

K-Mart was an anchor store in the mall until its Canadian assets were sold to the Hudson's Bay Company in the late 1990s. Zellers occupied the space until the early 2010s, when that brand was shuttered.

Today, the mall features a variety of retailers including Safeway, as well as an 18-hole mini-golf course. It is a favourite destination for senior citizens, many of whom live in the adjacent seniors' housing developments.
