military, early warning radar
Established in August 1992 as part of the North Warning System, BAF-4A is an autonomous Short Range Radar built to close a gap in NWS long-range surveillance coverage. The site is equipped with AN/FPS-124 radar systems and though linked by a long road to both shoreside beaching facilities and a small airstrip, it is usually resupplied and serviced by helicopter crews.
