Established in July 1992 as a short-range radar site with the North Warning System, the BAF-2 or Cape Mercy Radar Site is an unattended station consisting of a radar tower, communications facility and small storage building. The site is equipped with AN/FPS-124 radar systems and is primarily resupplied and serviced by helicopter.
