Tilden is an unincorporated community in and the county seat of McMullen County, Texas. McMullen County is named for John McMullen, founder of a colony in Texas. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,143 square miles. In 2000, the population of the county was 851. That's less than 3/4 of a person per square mile or 850+ acres per person!
