4-story education building (with an 18-story tower - known as Maria's Tower - rising from near the east end) completed in 1970. Designed by Eggers and Higgins, this is the main building of Pace University's New York City campus. The building is very long, spanning multiple blocks just south of the ramps to the Brooklyn Bridge. In 1983, three more floors were added to the top of the west side. The exterior wall was made of glass because concrete was too heavy for the original structure. Clad in stone and concrete, the building's northwestern end consists of two large slabs framing a central curtain wall of dark glass at the upper floors with angled setbacks at the top floor. Below this curtain wall, the stone facade is decorated by a large abstract bronze sculpture of staggered vertical elements. Each of the two end slabs have a pair of narrow window columns running down them.

On the long facades, the ground level at the northwest end becomes the 2nd floor toward the opposite side due to the slope of the site. This floor is deeply recessed, with squared columns also somewhat recessed. The two floors above cantilever out, and have rows of narrow slit windows, either in singles or grouped into threes. The top floor on the northwestern end of the building overhangs those below slightly. The southeastern end of the building is similar to the opposite end in that it has two framing slabs, but the center section is different. Instead of the glass curtain wall at the top, there is a blank stone-paneled wall, with two horizontal ribbons of windows below. The northeastern elevation, running parallel to the Brooklyn Bridge, is basically the same as the southwestern side, except for a large 5-story extension near the northern corner that is almost windowless - except for two narrow columns of slit windows. Maria's Tower is described separately.

For more than 100 years, Pace University has been preparing students to become leaders in their fields by providing an education that combines exceptional academics with professional experience and the New York advantage. Pace has three campuses, in New York City, Westchester, and White Plains.

A private metropolitan university, Pace enrolls approximately 13,500 students in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, Lienhard School of Nursing, Lubin School of Business, School of Education, Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, and School of Law.
