This building was designed in 1936 by Detroit architect Albert Kahn as studios for WWJ radio. The station was owned by The Detroit News whose offices were across Lafayette. The building was enlarged in the mid-1940s to create television studios. In 1982, WDIV (as it was then known) television studios were moved next door.
