Site of the former, 151,000 sq. ft.,Shapero Hall which was constructed in 1952 and housed the Wayne State University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. It closed in 2000, when a new building opened near the Detroit Medical Center. The eight story building was bought by real estate investor Dennis Kefallios in 2007, whose plans to convert it into a hotel were blocked by neighboring Lafayette Park residents. In 2012, the City of Detroit announced that it would be demolished. It was purchased by Ginosko Development for $16 million in 2018.

Demolition occurred in 2019 in conjunction with a new proposal to construct 3 four story condominium apartment buildings along Rivard Street and 3 four story rental apartment buildings along the Chrysler Freeway Service Drive. Known as Lafayette West, the project will create 245 new rental units and 80 condominium units. The first building is scheduled to be completed in 2021.
