  • Fity thousand people used to live here, know its a ghost town.
  • i read that back in the day if you trespassed here theyd just arrest you, but after radioactive tv sets started popping up in kiev pawnshops the sentrys were given orders to shoot trespassers. either way you should definitely get permission to go and bring a guide with you so you know which areas are(relatively) safe and which ones arent.
  • My dad was a liquidator who went to there with many others. his job to prevent contaminated water from entering the groundwaters and yet even though the liquidators helped to prevent this disaster from spreading further, the soviet goverment turned their communist backs on them when they needed much attention when the radiation started killing them. RIP Sergei Melnik 1957-2006 (not related to Nikolai Melnik, Hero of the Soviet Union)

  • that depends because the area still has enough radiation to give you health problems in the future. However the Ukrainian Goverment will give special passes to for what ever reason and provide radiation suits I know this beacause they allowed tourists or documentary crews to go the zone.   • The south border of the zone is completely wrong. See for example the map from chernobyl-tour.com for the correct border.
