Spectacular views from below and on top. The point is roughly 4500 feet above the river below. You can get to the top of Comanche Point by following a short trail from Desert View (See "Desert View Watchtower" to the SSW), or view it from below by descending into the Canyon via the Tanner Trail.

  • Verify distance before attempting hike. The "short trail" is about 6 miles through the desert, with about half of it climbing, half descending in the smaller canyons.. You will drop about 770 feet in altitude, but face an average grade of 15 as you climb 1,725 feet and descent 2,500 feet. Everything is approximate; vertical change will vary depending on exact start/stop points and your actual route.
