The Fox Theatre is a former movie palace and performing arts venue at Grand Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Developed by William Fox and designed by C. Howard Crane, the theatre opened in January 1929, having cost $6,000,000 to build. Originally having 5,000 seats, the Fox was one of St. Louis's leading movie theatres into the 1960s. The theatre closed in 1978, but underwent a $3,000,000 restoration from 1981 to 1982 and reopened. The current seating capacity of the Fox Theatre is 4,512 (4,278 general admission seats plus 234 in the private Fox Club).
The Fox Theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 8, 1976.
