The Verizon Arena is a 18,000-seat multipurpose indoor arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas located directly across the Arkansas River from Downtown Little Rock. The arena opened in October 1999 and cost $80,000,000 to build. It has a floor area of 377,000 sq ft (35,000 sq m). It was originally named the Alltel Arena from 1999 to 2009. The Arkansas Twisters of the Indoor Football League (formerly of the AF1 and the AF2) have been the arena's primary tenant since 2000. The arena had some other tenants including the Arkansas RimRockers of the NBA D-League from 2004-2007, the Arkansas Riverblades of the ECHL from 1999-2003, and the UALR Trojans men's basketball ream from 1999-2005. Some of the events the arena has hosted include the 2003, 2006, and 2009 Southeastern Conference women's basketball tournaments and the 2000 Sun Belt Conference men's basketball tournament. The Verizon Arena is alsoused for concerts, rodeos, auto racing, professional wrestling, and tradeshows and conventions.
