The arena opened in April, 1941. During World War II, though, the arena was used for processing soldiers bound for the Pacific Theater. In the following years, it hosted innumerable hockey and basketball games, wrestling and boxing matches, concerts, and political events, most notably the 1956 and 1964 Republican National Conventions. The arena is still used for the Grand National Rodeo today and other events.

  • Fleetwood Mac did there Tango in the Night tour DVD THere ROCK ON Fleetwood mAc
  • The city of Daily City wants to buy it, and tear it down to build housing and shopping. It would be a shame to lose it as concert venue. There have been so many great bands play there.
  • Contrary to rampant rumors, it has NOT already been torn down!
  • Saw the Allman Brothers, New Years Eve, 1972. First concert. Wow.
  • The Beatles performed there as well...as did Elvis. How's about that? I'm working on a project to enhance the surrounding property...the Cow Palace will not be torn down any time in the forseeable future.
  • Created new tag for Cow Palace. The nag needs to cover only the arena, not both the arena and its surrounding parking lots. Unprotect this tag and delete it, please.
  • This is where Keith Moon of The Who famously passed out (twice) during a show, which led to Townshend bringing someone from the audience to finish the set.
