Named for the USGS geologist Bernard Fisher. Largest of 12 Holocene calderas in Alaska. Formed in a compositionally zoned eruption circa 7,120 B.C which deposited material as a thick pyroclastic fall and overlying ignimbrite known as Fisher tephra.
