The Municipality of Soufli is in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, which was established on 1 January 2011 from the merger of pre-existing municipalities Orpheus,Soufli and Tycherou. Its capital is the largest town of Soufli. It is the eighth largest municipality in the area of Greece, with 1,326 sq.km. On the territory of the municipality there is a very important habitat of Dadia and the petrified forest of Fylaktou, the best preserved in Europe.
