Unalakleet is a city in Nome Census Area, Alaska, United States. At the 2010 census the population was 688. Archaeologists have dated house remnants along the beach ridge from 200 B.C. to 300 A.D.

Unalakleet is the first checkpoint on the Norton Sound in the famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. The first musher to reach this checkpoint each year is awarded the Gold Coast Award, which includes $2,500 in gold nuggets
