126-foot, 8-story residential building originally completed in 1906 as a manufacturing building. Designed by Robertson & Potter, it was originally named the Fish Building, as it was built for Stuyvesant Fish, a descendant of Peter Stuyvesant and son of Hamilton Fish (a former governor of New York, U.S. Senator, and 26th United States Secretary of State). In 1987, after many years of use as a manufacturing site, the building was converted into condominiums and renamed the Petersfield, since it is located on the site of the Petersfield Farm, the original home of Peter Stuyvesant, the last Dutch governor of New York.
The two main facades are clad in buff-colored brick above a limestone ground floor. The west facade on the avenue is four bays wide, with the main entrance in the north bay, with a glass door in a glass-and-metal surround, flanked by paneled stone pilasters with scrolled brackets carrying an entablature with the inscription "FISH BUILDING" and a dentiled cornice. There are tripartite storefront windows in the other three bays.
The upper floors have triple-windows with slender, dark-red iron mullions, and continuous stone sills and lintel courses. There are short but wide black metal vents between floors at each bay. At the roof line are four small cartouches interrupting a string course, and a tiled parapet stepped up at each pier.
The south facade on 12th Street has seven bays, with metal-and-glass storefront sections in the western five, the end bay also having a set of metal-framed glass double-doors incorporated into it. The 2nd-to-eastermost bay has brick infill with a metal service door, and the east end bay has two more service entrances (with brown metal double-doors and a single door), with a triple-window across the top of the doors. The upper floors have the same arrangement as the west facade.
The east elevation is clad in the same brick, with many bays of single-windows. The north walls are brown brick, with no openings at the angled east section, and more single-windows on the other north-facing elevations. The building contains 70 condominium units. The ground floor is occupied by Crunch Fitness.
