It's very cool to sit and listen to nature here. Here's what I could find out about the statue.

Artist: Jack Stephens

The Wee-Chi-Tah Sculpture is one of Americas largest sculptures that features the First Nation of America. The Sculpture features a Comanche Family crossing the Wichita River. The legend of their Crossing defines where Wichita got its name. Wee-Chi-Tah, "Waist Deep"

  • It's a nice "legend" but Wichita Falls was named for the village of Wichita Indians who lived along the river at this location and not because a family of Commanche Indians crossed the river here and said the water is waist deep.
