SS Cape Flattery (T-AK-5070), SS Cape Florida (T-AK-5071) & SS Cape Farewell (T-AK-5073)

Here are 3 of 4 members of the US Navy's Lighter-Aboard-Ship (LASH) vessels which are maintained as part of the Military Sealift Commands RRF (Ready Reserve Force) and administered by the Maritime Administraion. Originally laid down for commercial service with Delta Lines, these ships served with a number of US Flag cargo lines throughout the 1970s & 1980s before they were returned to the Maritime Administration. Now they serve as barge carriers for the Seabees, or Naval Construction Battalions.
