Fort Cavazos is a United States military post located next to Killeen, Texas. The post was formerly named after Confederate General John Bell Hood, but was renamed Fort Cavazos in honor of Gen. Richard Edward Cavazos, a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars who was born in Texas to Mexican-American parents. In 1982, he became the first Hispanic to wear four stars on his uniform.
Fort Cavazos is big and boasts of being the largest active duty armored post in the United States Armed Services. It covers 340 square miles.
