  • Not all trains used to stop here. Until 1987, some passenger trains continued on a branch line through the narrow streets to Weymouth Quay station for connections with ferry sailings. On summer evenings this event was like a carnival. A Police car crawling along in front, asking for parked cars to be moved; people cheered outside pubs and waved from upstairs windows at the train passengers, sometimes only a few feet away. It would be a great experience if this could happen again.
