Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church (Varna)

Bulgaria / Varna / Varna / Preslav Street, 41
Neo-Gothic (architecture), 1890_construction, Roman Catholic church

The Immaculate Conception Church (1885) is currently (2007) being rebuilt. Shortly after the consecration of the temple, the Italian consul, Luigi Asareto, donated a unique white marble altar from Genoa.
The church was built in 1890 after the design of the Italian architect Valentino Dell Antonio from Modena.
Its construction began along with that of the Catholic Cathedral of St. Paul in Ruse. It was built in the typical Gothic style, yet retaining a much greater simplicity in comparison with most of its counterparts in Bulgaria.
