The Village is located in Hersham, Surrey, England, provides homes for elderly people. Managed by The Whiteley Homes Trust. The Village came into being following a bequest in the will of philanthropist, William Whiteley, who left £1 million to provide homes for, in his words, "aged poor persons". The village consisting of independent living in cottages, an Extra-care complex, residential care and nursing care all situated on one site. The woodland surrounding the residential area of the Village (all of which is private property belonging to the Trust) offers a variety of secluded and interesting walks with an abundance of wildlife. Villagers lives in rented Grade II listed almshouse style cottages, built within an octagon shape and set in the tranquil and peaceful surroundings of 240 acres of Surrey woodland.
