Erie Canal, maritime museum
The Erie Maritime Museum contains exhibits related to Erie's rich history as a commercial and military port--especially in its role as home port for Admiral Oliver Hazard Perry's fleet in the War of 1812. The musuem complex also serves as the home port of the the Brig Niagara, official sailing ship of the State of Pennsylvania and an exact replica of the ship Perry used to defeat the British in Put-Bay-Ohio on Lake Erie. It flies the flag: "Don't Give Up the Ship!"
