The Millennium Bell, located in the Grand Circus Park was commissioned by the City of Detroit to ring in the new millennium (2000).
Since then, the ringing of the triangular-shaped bell has become a New Year's Eve tradition. Artist Chris Turner collaborated to design a 10 ton bell that hangs from arches that spand 40 feet across and stand 26 feet tall. The bell was dedicated on December 31, 1999 and remains one of Detroit's unique treasures.
Locally refered to as Fishhead Bell.
