This was a gated community up until 1960. It had the same name as the private beach and sports club adjacent to it but the residents here were not necessarily members of the Club Nautico. We lived in this neighborhood the last two years of our life in Cuba, it was a very quiet and very American style neighborhood. It was waterfront but it did not have a public beach. The Beach was reserved for the Club members.

  • I lived there from 1953- 1960. And believe me there was a beach and tremendous parties { te bailables] with the best music in the world.
  • el reparto naútico definitely had a beautiful beach that was part of the club. the facilities included restaurants, function rooms, playgrounds, tennis courts, big open air spaces for parties of all kinds with palm roofs, a baseball field, an olympic size swimming pool, etc. the houses built in the early and mid-1950s on the sea did not have private beaches. the coastline was rocky and the surf was strong. very brave people swam on that rocky coast. fishermen enjoyed the river estuary by the reparto naútico. the streets were landscaped with almond trees. at the arrival of the revolution building stopped. this was a privileged place to live where many professionals chose to build their own private homes within easy access to havana. i lived there from 1954 to 1961.
  • I lived in El Reparto from 1955-61. This was certainly a child's paradise. As kids we would roller skate, ride our bikes, play in the playground and swin at the pool or the beach. We even had two pocetas to enjoy and a torreon left from the times of the Spaniards. Guards rode around in bikes to ensure that the children were safe. Summer for us was year round except when a hurricane came close and we would go to the Malecon to catch the high waves against the arrecifes. Best memories I have is of my childhood in El Nautico.
  • I Lived in El Reparto Nautico from 1966-1969. With the other children we spent the days swimming in the sea and cycling like crazy. There was no longer club, it was the beginning of communist rule. Most of my friends emigrated. The best years of my life.
  • HELLO, Petercho,I am Juanito, Nene's brother who lives in Miami now .I remember you and your father and mother when you used to live in front of my family's home in el Reparto Nautico........I have not been there since I left Cuba. I think, I would be very depressed to see the level of destruction del reparto Nautico with 54 years of the communist 'MARABUNTA".My family in Spain still keeps in touch with Pepe Recio I don't know if you remember him......Anyway I am glad you still remember your old Cuban friends........
  • I lived in Nautico with my brother and sister from 1956-1960. We lived in the first duplex house which you encountered upon entering the concrete shell archway. It was a red and white duplex next to the parking lot, owned by Mr. Diaz de la Villegas, who lived in the top unit with his wife and daughter, Isabelita. We rented the lower unit for 100 pesos/month. The local cop, Navarro, would often reprimand me for riding my bicycle too wildly, and for letting air out of the tires of cars in the parking lot. Slightly older neighborhood boys played loud games of marbles in the parqueo right outside our window. My dad was an american, Brad King, who worked for the First National Bank of Boston in Havana. he drove a new, pink, 1956 Buick Super sedan with turquoise interior, and later bought a 1959 Cadillac 62 converticle, also pink, with black leather upholstery. It barely fit in our carport. I loved the thin concrete shell dance hall at club Nautico, and the granisados for sale. Camlio Cienfuegos once arrived in a helicopter at the baseball field across from Nautico. My pre school was Jeoffrey school nearby, and I went to kindergarten at Ruston Academy. My wife and I visited nautico on Christmas day, 2001. It was trashed, as was nearly every man made thing in Cuba except for foreign embassies, and foreign owned hotels. I have never seen a large city so completely and uniformly trashed as Havana. It was as if there once had been a wild, gigantic party in a beautiful mansion, the music suddenly stopped, everyone left, and no one cleaned up the dirty dishes. Bruce King, bking@bart.gov
  • I was born there in 1952. lived there until 1961. My mother, Ana Maria Garcia, had a beauty salon in the Beach Club of El Nautico and a second Beauty salon in the adjacent beach club "El Casino", which was higher scale than El Nautico Beach Club. While I played at the Beach club Play grounds I had the opportunity to witness "Camilo Cienfuegos" arrive in a Helicopter to greet the community while the Revolution was in full force. He is a Historic Cuban Revolutionary, who conspiracy theorist say, he was set up to be killed by Castro. I believe that theory is true. Even though Che Gevara was killed in Bolivia, I also believe, that Castro had distant contacts, who worked to locate him and have him found by opposing forces. Castro is an Ego Maniac, willing to disolve, assasinate & plot against any personalities, who could take away any attention from his SPOT LIGHT. Castro was a Millionare, but his Countrymen & Followers, lived a life of severe need and in most cases great poverty. Castro is one of Humanitie's Most Prolific Farce, Fakes and Disappointing Vilans in the History of Latin America. Had it were in my capacity and opportunity to pull the triger and end Castro, it would be a privildge to be the one to sacrifice my own life to have freed my County of such Terrible and NON Productive Revolution. The City of Havana was a beutifl place with many Historuc Buildings that are now, shells and simply in ruins compared to when they were in their full glory. I see photos and it breaks my heart to see the misery. I also went to Jeoffrey School. renejohngarcia@yahoo.com
  • Read my comment below. We went to the same school. I was there when Camilo Cienfuegos visited the community in the heat of the Revolution. Lived in El Nautico from 1952 to 1961. We may have been childhood friends. My name was Renesito. I had a friend Mayito Sanchez , Robert Pao and Ricardo. My Teacher was Alicia, she was very hard on me. I went to the Catholic Chapel across the street from the corner I lived in a triplex in the subterrenian unit, so we had a yard to play in. Other wise I would play base ball in the vacant field retondra the called "La Virgen Maria" because it was in the shape of "La Virgen". When my family fled Cuba, we left as wanna be tourist to Kingston, Jamaica. We were Cuban Refugees in Jamaica...How tough was that. Let me tell you, VERY TOUGH. We live on the same street Bob Marley live on Hope Road. we probable drove past his house when he was a kid. I really don't know if he was even born in 1961. I want to speak with you some day. • Me too: born in 1952, moved to Nautico in 1956, and moved to Florida in 1994.
  • Hi Pedro, my name is gladys Osorio. I used to go to El Reparto Nautico every weekend. My grandmother took over my aunt/ uncle home before things got worst in 1964, they left to Puerto Rico. The house was near the church. I left Cuba in 1968. To me this place was paradise. I missed all my good friends. I'll be visiting Cuba next week Julu 16, 2015 y voy a pasar por el reparto. To me those were my best memories of my youth.
