  • Lived in Reparto Flores from 1956 to June 1961. All that area belonged to The Firm Cortina y Cespedes. All my family, uncles & cousins lived on 164, 166, 168 Streets, and First Avenue facing the ocean. If I remember correctlly the land was very inexpensive, something maybe like $3.00 a meter. Half a block from the house was the University of Villanova of the Order of Augustine Fathers. Now in Miami, St. Thomas University. Remenber seeing the fathers walking in front of the house late in the afternoon saying their prayers. The Church, Santo Tomas de Villanueva now totally destroyed. At the beginning of the revolution when confiscated by the tirany, this church became a warehouse for armament. Inspite of that and having left so early I have lovely memories of my childhood. What a beautiful and peaceful area that was.
